Association for University Regional Campuses of Ohio (AURCO) 2010 Conference
The conference theme
"Reshaping Higher Education" emphasizes the challenges that confront regional campus faculty, staff, and students, and the educational transformations required to engage and facilitate the development of Ohio's citizenry. The 16th annual AURCO conference (2010) aspires to promote development and discussion beneficial to Ohio regional campuses and communities.
The conference will be hosted by Kent State University at Stark in North Canton, Ohio, on Saturday, April 10, 2010, with a welcome reception on Friday, April 9.
Faculty and Staff Submissions. The conference will offer two formats: oral presentations and round-table discussions. Paper presenters and lead discussants for round-tables must submit an abstract of no more 300 words (go to the "Paper Submission" tab on conference homepage). Previous experience suggests round-table discussions work best if the lead identifies others with an interest in the topic and encourages them to join the round-table group.
Conference tracks include
but are not limited to:
- Pedagogical Strategies, Issues, & Opportunities
- Uses of Technology
- Recruitment, Retention, and Student Services
- Service and Community Based Learning
- Special Initiatives
All submissions are peer-reviewed, and paper presentations will be allotted 20 minutes; roundtable discussions will have up to 60 minutes. The submission deadline is February 20, 2010. Notification of acceptance will be sent by March 15, 2010.
Student Paper and Poster Session. The student competition is open to all students currently enrolled at one of the 23 regional campuses in Ohio. For the paper competition, there will be two categories. Historically, these categories were the arts and humanities (includes creative writing) and the social sciences, but may defined in another way, depending upon the range of disciplines represented in the submissions. The best poster and two best papers (assuming there are two categories) will receive the award and $150.00. One must attend and present at the conference to be eligible for the award.
